Is the Jungfraujoch worth it?

The Jungfraujoch is the saddle between the Mönch and the Jungfrau in the Bernese Oberland. The Jungfrau Railway, opened in 1912, climbs through a tunnel in the Eiger and the Mönch to a station at 3,454 metres. At the top you look down on the Aletsch Glacier, the largest in the Alps, and walk on snow in any month.

It is also one of the most expensive excursions in Switzerland: a return ticket from Interlaken Ost costs CHF 271.20 in summer 2026, including the mandatory seat reservation. Whether it is worth it depends mostly on two things: a clear day and the right discount card.
