What the Jungfrau Travel Pass is
The Jungfrau Travel Pass is a regional pass for 3 to 8 days. It covers many trains, mountain railways, gondolas and lake boats around Interlaken, Grindelwald, Wengen and Lauterbrunnen. The Jungfraujoch is not part of it. You add the top section with a separate connection ticket, which costs CHF 89 in summer 2026 (1 May to 31 October) and from CHF 63 in winter.
The pass therefore has two price tags: the pass itself and the connection ticket. Whether it pays off depends on how many other rides you would otherwise buy one by one.

Coverage as listed for the 2026 pass.

Connection ticket
The Jungfraujoch needs the connection ticket: CHF 89 from 1 May to 31 October 2026, including the CHF 10 seat reservation, and from CHF 63 in winter. The operator quotes a 50 percent saving on the section Eigergletscher to Jungfraujoch.
Ticket prices →Children
Children under 16 with the pass get the connection ticket free. In summer they still need the CHF 10 reservation.
What the pass really costs on top of a plain Jungfraujoch ticket
Extra cost in CHF: pass price plus connection ticket, minus the normal return fare from Interlaken Ost. Winter means 1 November to 12 December 2026.
| Days | No card, summer | No card, winter | Half Fare, summer | Half Fare, winter |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 days | 27.80 | 48.60 | 113.40 | 115.80 |
| 4 days | 52.80 | 73.60 | 128.40 | 130.80 |
| 5 days | 87.80 | 108.60 | 158.40 | 160.80 |
| 6 days | 107.80 | 128.60 | 173.40 | 175.80 |
| 7 days | 127.80 | 148.60 | 188.40 | 190.80 |
| 8 days | 147.80 | 168.60 | 203.40 | 205.80 |
The comparison uses CHF 271.20 (summer) and CHF 224.40 (winter) as the full fare, and CHF 140.60 and CHF 112.20 with a Half Fare Card. Those are the Interlaken Ost fares in our price tables.
Four worked examples
Only verified 2026 prices are used.
Traveller without a card, 3 days, summer
Pass CHF 210 plus connection ticket CHF 89 makes CHF 299. The plain ticket costs CHF 271.20. You pay CHF 27.80 more and get three days of other rides on top. The pass wins if those rides would cost more than CHF 27.80 one by one.
Half Fare Card holder, 3 days, summer
Discounted pass CHF 165 plus CHF 89 makes CHF 254. The plain ticket with Half Fare costs CHF 140.60. The pass costs CHF 113.40 more, so you need more than that in other covered rides. For a Jungfraujoch-only trip the Half Fare Card is the cheaper choice.
Swiss Travel Pass holder, 3 days, summer
Discounted pass CHF 165 plus CHF 89 makes CHF 254. The Jungfraujoch with the Swiss Travel Pass costs CHF 189.60 from Interlaken Ost, so the regional pass adds CHF 64.40. In winter (before 13 December) it is CHF 228 against CHF 151.20, a difference of CHF 76.80.
Two adults and two children, 3 days, summer
Passes: 2 × 210 plus 2 × 30 makes CHF 480. Connection tickets for the adults: 2 × 89 makes CHF 178. Children's connection tickets are free, but the reservation is CHF 10 each, so CHF 20. Total CHF 678. Without the pass: 2 × 271.20 is CHF 542.40, plus 2 child travel cards at CHF 30 and 2 reservations at CHF 10, makes CHF 622.40. The pass costs CHF 55.60 more.
When the pass pays off, and when Half Fare is better
A simple rule of thumb.
The pass wins
You stay 3 to 8 days, ride many lifts and trains in the region, and have no discount card. Every extra mountain railway, gondola and boat trip brings you closer to the extra cost in the table above.
Half Fare wins
You do the Jungfraujoch once and a few short rides. With a Half Fare Card the pass has to replace more than CHF 113 of tickets before it breaks even, in a 3-day summer case.
Check the days first
Choose the pass length by the days you really ride. Add up the normal price of each trip from the operator's calculator, then compare with the extra cost above. Weather planning helps too, see best time to visit.
